Waxeyes in Kowhai

Description: This painting tries to capture the seemingly playful antics of little waxeyes amongst the golden yellow blooms of Kowhai on a beautiful clear spring day. The pattern is a combination of elements from Celtic knotwork and Maori kowhaiwhai, with curves and new shoots echoing the growth pattern of Kowhai leaves and symbolising spring itself.
